About
About Zareg Collective
Zareg Collective is a South African software company. We build consumer apps for phones and the web, and we run them ourselves from end to end.
Who we are
Zareg Collective (Pty) Ltd was registered with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) of South Africa on 16 October 2026, registration number 2026/829944/07. It is a private company, based in South Africa.
Zareg started as a studio name for apps built by its founder, and is now a registered company so that its products can grow properly.
What we make
Briefs is a social app for sharing posts and short videos, disappearing Briefs, chat, communities, live video, and a local marketplace. It works in the browser and is being tested on Android.
How we work
- Safety first. Our apps are for people aged 13 and over, live video is for adults only, and reporting and blocking are built into the product.
- Free to use. Our products are free for people to use. Any paid extras will be optional and clearly labelled.
- Built for South Africa. We design for real phones, real data costs and real local needs, and we make things people can use on a modest connection.
- Privacy respected. We collect what an app needs to work and nothing more. See our privacy policy.
The founder
Mulisa Maphaha founded Zareg Collective. He designs and builds the product, mostly in JavaScript, and looks after the app, the servers and support.
